5k Running for a cause

We decided to take on the challenge of training for and running the Sheffield half marathon to raise money for Breast Cancer Care!  Our friend’s mother has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer, so we couldn't think of a more fitting charity to get me motivated to run 13 miles.

We were hooked into the idea of sports for fundraising purposes and was happy to take a decision "running for a cause"

But the problem was that none of us was sure if we could complete a half marathon. But Wendy and I were determined to make a head start. And so we set about training to run a half marathon successfully.

We went to a local trainer and told him our plans to learn how to run the half marathon successfully in a decent time. He suggested we train for 5K and 10K respectively. We had never heard of these terms.

Wendy had always taunted me as a couch potato, as I was fond of watching the NFL games supporting my favorite team, always sitting with my large dose of chips and popcorns. But our coach said that he had worked with many couch potatoes earlier.

This boosted my confidence and Wendy and I set out, as per our coach’s recommendations to train for our first 5K.

It was of course a big challenge for both Wendy and me to take our first step. As they say, it is the first step that is the hardest while the rest is easy and takes care of itself. It terrified me to know that 5K is about 3.1 miles, as I had never run such a long distance before in my life.

We consulted  a local nutritionist for our diet. He gave a chart which is called  carb-backloading diet. This diet helped us to lose extra fat quickly.

Video on Efficient and Injury Free Natural Running Technique

But our coach, Mr. Gary told me that the schedule to train for 5K would be a mix of running, resting and walking. This way, the body is able to recoup after running and regain the strength quickly. There are also reduced chances of stress and injury. He told us to take it lightly to allow our bodies to adjust to the demands of 5K running.

The biggest challenge we faced was to fix the way in which we ran.

3 steps we took to improve your running pose

(1)  We started standing with one leg everyday for 5 minutes to remove any muscular imbalance. because running after all is just a series of one-legged posture stances

(2) We followed Christopher Drozd's book to have correct running form.

(3) We purchased special zero drop shoes for this purpose.

To increase the endurance capacity of our muscles, we trained twice a day on alternate days. We also followed a proper nutritious diet during our marathon training and during the marathon.

The podcast of Mat on "fueling your body beyond the wall"  helped us to learn more on how to select nutrition, mastering eating and drinking while running, how to decide which one is the best for us amongst energy bars, sports drinks, gels etc.

I followed   4 Steps to Perfect Marathon Fueling where Kim Mueller explained how to determine the total calories required during running like determining running calorie expenditure per mile, calculate hourly expenditure based on goal race pace etc.

The schedule Gary gave us contained time periods, where we were supposed to walk rather than run. For example, Wendy and I ran for 15 seconds in the first week and then walked for 45 seconds.

We had to repeat this cycle for 30 minutes.  We got Friday as a rest day and neither did we run nor did we walk on this day. Surprisingly, he gave us a choice of either full rest again Sunday or walk a particular distance.

I remember my runs at the beginning.

“I feel like I’ve been going for a while, then I look at my watch and it’s been a minute and 20 seconds only … I was really out of shape.”

We persevered, we urged each other on, and we also got smartphones with a motivational zombie running app (“Your helicopter crashed. The zombies are coming for you — you have to run!”).

Finally we have completed 5K running within 40 minutes and that took us 3 months.

We successfully ran 10 K after another 4 months. We both completed below 83 minutes

Once we successfully completed 10K, we followed a schedule called "100 day Marathon plan"  by Dr. Marius Bakken 2 Time Olympic Runner and M.D.

Finally, we participated & completed Sheffield half marathon & collected around 300 USD against target of 500 USD. Thanks for our supporters for online fund collection, where we got donations from across the globe.

We were delighted as we were successful in our fund raising effort, completed 1st  half marathon and moreover regained our health.

My special thanks goes to Lemmy whose regular deep tissue massage was very helpful for us to keep fit. And another great article is “The 26.2 Step Guide to Your First Marathon” without reading this article; I wouldn’t have considered the importance of a toilet break during marathon running.

Those who are interested to be a long distance runner, read my articles on "10 Tips on How to Run A 5K"  and important running attire & gears.

We continued our newly formed habit of running, swimming & aerobic training. Next, I'll share you our trip to mount Kilimanjaro.

online business ideas

I always want to work from home. I like getting up in the morning, walking my dog, having a hearty breakfast and then commuting 10 feet to my office to turn on my computer and start my work day. Now that’s my idea of an ideal job!

Over the years I got chance to watch closely famous women bloggers like Jenny Lawson, Gina Trapani,Ariel Meadow Stallings from offbeat bride,Danielle Laporte. If you are interested in starting a creative, internet based business that gets you excited to get out of bed in the morning, read on.

Author Amy does full time online business business from her south Carolina home.

Are Consumers Searching for Experts or Leaders?

“Who would listen to me?”

That’s one of the most common questions I hear from people who contact me for help. They desperately
online business ideas

want to be involved in a niche, but they can’t confidently claim to be an expert.

They might like cooking, for example – but they’re not on Iron Chef, they don’t have their own magazine, and Rachel Ray hasn’t invited them to be on her daytime talk show – so obviously that means they have nothing of value to offer, right?

You can see how ridiculous it sounds when we’re talking about someone else, can’t you? I’m sure you’ve gotten a few great recipes from random blogs or friends online.

But for some reason, we’ve created these minimum requirements for ourselves when it comes to niche involvement.

Don’t settle for being one of many.

The last thing I want you to do is tell yourself that you’ll create a blog and share some insight and whoever happens to stumble on it, you’ll be happy with that.

No. I want you striving to achieve dominance in whatever niche you go into – even if that means you have to brand yourself as someone to rival Martha Stewart herself!

I was watching an old episode of Mad Men the other day and Don Draper, the advertising exec everyone knows and envies, is asked about a competitor who has started telling everyone he’s Don’s top rival.

It really irks Don and he says, “He hasn’t done half of what I have, but the minute he declared himself the competition, suddenly we were equal.”
This should be your goal.

Don’t fool yourself into thinking experience counts less than a degree.

Let’s see – who else never got that coveted degree from college?

Rockefeller didn’t.

Neither did Abe Lincoln.

Wolfgang Puck dropped out of school at age 14.

Walt Disney? No degree, thank you very much. In fact he was driving ambulances when he began making art.

These are just a few experts in their niche who just did what they did and people loved it. I want that to be you.

Consumers want to be led, not taught.

However, when I’m looking for a solution to a problem I have, the last thing I’m looking for is some stuffy professor to babble on and on about facts.

I want someone who’s been there, done that – or someone who looks at my problem, sympathizes with me, and reaches out to help me.

A degree can’t do that for you. Only a good heart can. Only someone who puts themselves out there as a beacon of hope for people.

Gauge How Much You Know

Okay, so if you want to have confidence leading a niche, you first need to see if you know anything more than someone else.  You don’t want to be running on empty!

That’s the minimum requirement. There has to be someone out there who might be interested in what topic you’re teaching who doesn’t know something about it.

Sometimes it’s the very basic skills your audience won’t know yet – stuff you’ve known forever.

So take stock of what you know. If you’re going into a specific niche, make a quick brainstormed list of what things you could share.

I would then look at that list and ask myself if there might be an audience out there who needs to know any of that stuff. Sure there is!

Uh oh. But what about those people who want to know about Mobile Marketing? I know nothing about that! Does that mean I shouldn’t teach online marketing at all?

No. It just means they can go elsewhere for those instructions. When you get involved in a niche, you don’t have to teach every single thing about it. You can focus on what you like and what you’re good at and what you believe in.

Ah, but what if you want to go into a niche that’s brand spanking new to you? Guess what?

That’s okay, too! In fact, you might develop an amazing audience of followers who LOVE the fact that you’re sharing your ups and downs as you learn the niche and show them what works and what doesn’t.

This element makes it feel like you’re all in this together. It keeps your readers from feeling stupid because you’re all in the same boat – learning right alongside each other, only you’re doing the legwork for them – researching, gathering information, testing it and sharing it with them.

Continual Learning

It’s one thing to be a novice and a leader at the same time and another thing to be satisfied with staying stagnant in your ignorance.

Nobody wants to follow someone who isn’t moving forward, so you have to be enthusiastic about continuing to grow your knowledge in your niche.

Impress your audience with your thirst for knowledge. This is key for success in online home based business.

How to continue learning in any niche?

I think it’s fantastic when you finally find confidence in your basic experiences to lead a niche. But in my opinion, you’re not a good leader if you don’t continue seeking new information to better yourself and the lives of your readers.

You should read trade magazines, books, watch videos, and join local college classes. - If you’re in the gardening niche you can take a class on horticulture and learn how to properly operate a greenhouse or landscape. If you’re in the health and diet niche, you can take classes to teach you about nutrition and wellness.

Is your niche beer? Subscribe to DRAFT magazine. Dog niche? Dog Fancy Magazine is one option. Aromatherapy? Aromatherapy Thymes Magazine will do.

You want to subscribe to a publication that stays current on the latest happenings in your niche so that you, in turn, can be up to date as well!

You want to go out and find all of your competitors, big and small. Some of them will be making major mistakes with their online efforts – and some will teach you a thing or two about how to do business the right way.

Learn from both aspects to find cool business ideas

I want you comparing three things:

1.    Expertise

When you go to a competitor’s site, I want you to take notes about what they’re teaching and sharing. Do they have knowledge that you don’t have but need in order to fully satisfy your target audience?

2.    Sites

How does your site stack up against your competitors? Look at elements that make you like the site (as well as those that make you dislike it) and design your site to be the best of all worlds.

You always want to be striving to design the site you want. For example, I like how Tony Robbins has his site laid out. I don’t like every piece, but certain elements.

3.    Relationships

While you’re in spy mode, I want you to see what kind of connection your competition has with his or her audience. Do they even have blog comments? Get on their list!

Read the comments (if they have them) on their blog. Join in on their forum under a pen name if you want to. Go to Twitter and do an @ search of their username to see how people respond to them there.

Circle them on G+ and connect on Facebook. Don’t worry that you’ll look like a spy. You’re just there to connect to like-minded people. And one of those connections could one day transform itself into a joint venture for you.

Just make sure your audience knows what your slant is – this will help them know whether or not they should tune into your lessons.

Do something better – or different - than the others do it.

Have an edge over your competition. As you hear “Thank you” time and time again, it will give you the confidence you need to know you’re doing everything right.

Your edge could be thoroughness. It could be that you’re uplifting and motivating. You could be the man or woman who answers questions that your readers have and makes a tutorial out of each one.

Confidence Is Born of Experiences

Niche leadership isn’t about who is more qualified in a technical sense. If you lack confidence and keep asking yourself, “Who would be interested in what I have to say?” then you have to work on bettering yourself to get past your fears.

Think like an entrepreneur.

Most business people will tell you there’s nothing more challenging than starting your own business. Share your favorite online business ideas for women.

Starting an online business

Eight Tips on how to start an online business By Tiffany

Tiffany is work at home mom. She is  working at home for a decade. This is a series of eight articles on online business. In this article she explains about challenges of work from home. You will learn various passive income ideas from her on how to earn extra cash from internet based business.

I was tired being a cube-dweller & lifetime commuter.

I wanted to be an entrepreneur.

I waited a long time to make my choice.

I knew I wanted to work from home

I want to work from home

I did a few odd jobs during the years that my husband was completing his MBA from an Ivy League college. My work also helped my sister while she completed her medical studies too.

I always thought that being able to work from home would make my life easier. It also appealed to my latent entrepreneurial talents. Somehow the comfort of having a fat paycheck month after month was not allowing me to build enough confidence to start working at home. Soon, I did not have a choice. My daughter was born prematurely and with medical complexities. It became necessary for me to work from home, so I was really sort of, pushed into it.

I started with some online marketing and learned the tricks of the business the hard way back in 2001. Later, I received a request from Arindam, asking me to share my personal experiences with online marketing. I thought it would be a great idea, so I agreed to write down a few critical points on how to become successful at internet marketing.

Follow these 8 tips to fulfill your dream of working from home.

(1) Having "The Talk" With Loved Ones
You may have to muster up the courage to convince your spouse or parents that there is something you want to pursue.

In most cases, there will be a few raised eyebrows and pursed lips along with some heavy sighs. That is normal, so please do not take offense.  These people simply care about you and want to protect you from getting hurt.

You must remain confident if you want them to be confident in you. If you go into the conversation with doubt, then your loved ones will take it upon themselves to talk you out of any plans that you were trying to make.

It is also important to use the right language. Tossing words out that they will not recognize is just going to make them panic because it is something new and unknown. Do not jump right in and say you are going to be an "affiliate marketer" or "SEO expert."

(2) If you are hurting for money, do not start this now

Having bill collectors at your door is the wrong time to launch an online marketing career. Contrary to what some marketers claim, this is not a “make money fast” business. Keep your regular job and pursue an online career in your spare time. If you are too tired after work or never feel like it, then you do not want it bad enough. However, do not come home, quit your job one day, and expect your family to feel good about it when there are bills to be paid.

A better way to start is to work on it little by little. Then when your online income equals or nears your offline job, you can present it to them as a swap, not a loss.

(3) Have a plan and be prepared to share it

You don’t need to hand over an entire professional business plan, but having your basic steps mapped out on what you need to do is essential to making others (and yourself) feel confident about the journey you’re embarking on.

Whatever you do, do not start with a laundry list of things you have to buy. If you say, “First I have to buy and get a website set up,” they might think that means $10,000 when you really know its $9.99 for a domain and $10/month for hosting.

Don't subscribe to the idea of "start your online business free " because there is no free lunch in the world. You need to have minimum start up capital say $200 to $250.

(4) Be prepared for timeline demands

Inevitably, someone in your circle is going to want to know how long this “money making thing” will take. Well you cannot reasonably know that. However, it could help you and your loved ones if you set a deadline for seeing any type of return.
You do not want to be sitting around two years from now having spent a fortune, with not a single penny earned.

Do not get defensive when someone asks this question. It is scary to see someone set off into the unknown. Reassure them that you are not going to get involved in a sinkhole.

You should have a moderate budget and timeline to start with, so that you can reassess your actions if things are not going as planned. That is smart thinking no matter what industry you work in!

(5) Have a good example to show them

Depending on what you want to do, find a good role model, someone you might compete with in the near future. If your friends and family need more reassurance, you can walk them through what you will be doing.

Try not to overwhelm them, because they will not be familiar with your plans like you are. Sometimes, working from home is a viable solution, which is all it may take to secure the support of our loved ones.

The worst-case scenario can also happen whoever you are. Sharing your dreams with someone who tries crushing them can be frustrating. Try to accept the opinion gracefully and end the meeting. You are going into a solo career, and it is time you get used to being in control of your destiny.

(6) Saying “No” to Errands Just Because You’re Home
wahm jobs

(6) Saying “No” to Errands

As a work at home entrepreneur, you are suddenly going to appear as a doormat to all of your friends and family. It is imperative that you learn the art of saying, “No.”

You are going to find this happens a lot if you have a large group of friends and family who know about your work at home career. It might not be babysitting, but they’ll ask you to run them to the airport, pick up their dry cleaning and take their dog for a walk…all because your career allows you the leisurely lifestyle of not having to commute.

Some people do not have the confidence to say, “No.” It is like pulling teeth. Subsequently, friends and family end up walking all over them – even if they are not knowingly abusing the situation.

 (7) You are Still a Good Parent If You Work in Front of the Kids

You have to ensure that you are not neglecting your work duties too much out of guilt. It is hard when you are sitting there and you are doing well with your product development and your little girl walks up with big blue eyes asking you to play Barbie with her.

Saying no, means a wave of guilt washes over you.

You have to get real about the situation. Your kids are lucky to be in your care, in the comfort and safety of their own home. You simply need to be confident in the way that you address their needs.

Part of where I see people lacking confidence in balancing parenting with work productivity, is that they are stringent with their time management. You simply cannot be rigid when it comes to running a house with kids and a brand new business – both require constant love and attention.

My kids know that if they need me to hold them, they walk right up and I put my keyboard down and they hop up on my lap. They also know that if I had big plans to spend time with them but a project comes up that I have to finish, then our play date might be a little bit later.

Patience is key to your success.

It’s better if you set the hours that work for your family, and for some, that could mean working from 6 AM until 9 PM, with a back and forth method of working and parenting intertwined.

(8) Setting Sail on a Solo Career
If you have ever been in a job outside the home, then you can probably relate when I tell you how much I could not stand many of my coworkers (and bosses for that matter).

I always felt like the bosses took credit for all of my hard work and my disrespectful coworkers drove me insane with their quirky habits and demands. Once you become a solo entrepreneur, rather, you lose the confidence that you once had in yourself as an employee.

Suddenly there is no boss to take the fall if the company fails to meet its profit goals – no boss to dole out tasks and responsibilities and handle budgeting. There is just you.

Coworkers, as annoying as they can be, do take up some of the slack for you when you need them. They each shoulder a burden and you work as a team, which can be comforting when you need to stay on track to meet a deadline.

All of that will be yours now, as you take the reins of your own business. How can you feel confident that you will succeed? It feels like your entire staff just got layoff notices and that you are on your own.

First, you have to believe in your abilities to either do all of those jobs yourself or outsource them to people who can help. Just because you cannot hire employees yet does not mean you cannot hire a freelancer to pitch in and take some of the stress off you.

Second, give yourself a break. I do not mean take time off. What I mean is celebrate every success you have, from the day you say “Goodbye” to your job to the day you register your first domain, up to the first paycheck you get in the mail as a self-made entrepreneur.

While you may feel shaky, scared and nervous about the whole “solo entrepreneur” mission you are on – that is okay, too.

I am going to tell you about one more secret.

The top successful entrepreneurs also stressed out about making it and maintaining their momentum. Do not be too hard on yourself if you have moments of weakness. Just make sure you do not sit in a state of worry for too long.
If you are stuck, email me. I will give you a swift kick to snap you out of it.

Mobile Apps For Business

By 2015 , 50% of world devices will be connected to wireless network. - Bloomberg

Why are mobile apps important for your business?

why mobile apps for business is getting more important
Tablet is important source of traffic
Did you know that statistics show mobile consumers have their phone or mobile devices within three feet of them 24 hours a day?
And, according to Dr. Eli Harary the mobile market is the mother of all growth industries.

Likewise, Progress Software’s vice president Stephen McNulty believes that investing in mobile applications for business has become crucial: "people now are so used to using their smartphone or tablet. They’re migrating away from PCs and they want to be able to do everything they need to do using their mobile device,"McNulty said in an interview with The STAR..

Why Build A Mobile App For Your Business

Are you still thinking about launching a Mobile App for your business?

We all know as entrepreneurs and business owners that in order to stay competitive in today's marketplace, you need to position your business and take advantage of emerging trends and investment opportunities.

Mobile Marketing is not just in the future – it is now and it is right here. Now is the time to ride this wave of opportunity and make a mobile app business plan. "Enterprises who haven’t implemented a strategy focused on mobile apps risk losing control of their mobile infrastructure," said Jack Gold, principal analyst and founder of J. Gold Associates, a Massachusetts-based mobile consulting firm.
Just think about the opportunity you have when you are able to communicate and be three feet close to clients and customers 24 hours a day?

Now that’s what I call OPPORTUNITY! I don't know any other marketing medium that has the same power to instantly connect with a target market.

Build Your Own Web or Mobile App In Minutes With These Cloud Based Tools

What do you think the average response or open rate is today with email marketing?

Unless you have a super responsive and active list, you will only see 4% - 9% open rates within the first 24-48 hours of you pushing the send button. Mobile messages are seen and opened 97% of the time within the first four minutes.

Now that’s impressive! Just but yourself into someone else’s shoes and think about your own mobile behaviour – or even look around you! Consumer’s now expect every company or brand which they love to have a fun mobile app which they can install and use.

Apps are becoming increasingly popular - A ComScore study study recently confirmed that 82 percent of mobile media minutes are spent with apps instead of with the browser.

Top business apps for 2013 for productivity enhancement

  • Meeting Mapper
  • EchoSign for iOS,Workshare
  • Evernote for Business, Dropbox for Teams
  • StratPad v2
  • UX Write for the iPad and iPhone
  • Speaktoit is the top-rated virtual assistant for Android or iOS/Windows
  • Chase: Personal Service

We are often asked the question: "Why should I have a mobile app?"

Here are just four reasons why you should have one:

1. Apps build customer loyalty. Everyone likes to feel included in something special, so make customers feel like VIPs by offering discounts, coupons, and promotions just for using and downloading the app.

2. Apps create a viral buzz. Encourage customers to use the mobile app to quickly tell all of their friends about the business using the built-in sharing capabilities of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, your blog, SMS, and email.

3. Apps grow customer lists. A mobile app can gather names and email addresses from directly within the app and easily export them into the top email marketing campaign services to be used in additional emails.

4. Apps get instant feedback. Mobile apps allow customers to leave feedback on fan walls, share photos and send comments in a variety of ways.

What is an app?

An App is an application that has to be downloaded and installed on a mobile device, rather than being rendered within a browser.

Users visit device-specific portals such as Apple's App Store or the Android Google Play Market in order to find and download Apps for a given operating system. An app provides an interactive engagement with users and works more like a computer program than a website.

The app may pull content and data from the Internet in similar fashion to a website, or it may download the content so that it can be accessed without an internet connection.

It is expected that by mid-2014 more people will be accessing the internet on their mobile devices than on their PC's. With that in mind, it cannot be emphasized enough the importance of having one's business or service utilized and seen across all the different mobile platforms otherwise you will lose business. Ther’s no better way for your business to stay in touch with your customers than with a customized mobile application.

You can set up your own mobile app development department or outsource the work to third party mobile app developers. The Micro Strategy platform for mobile apps enables organizations to build a wide variety of essential mobile apps that deliver business intelligence, transactions and multimedia content.

Do you have clients and customers that you want to communicate and stay in touch with?

If so what do you think is the best way to do that and get responsive results? The clear choice is through Mobile Apps. Dr Tim King, CTO of 5app, offers some advice on how to keep app spending sensible. How much should a mobile business app cost?

I've put together my top ten tips to ensure your app success:

1. Determine your Objective

Are you looking for sales, brand awareness, social media engagement or to stay in constant contact and in front of your clients and prospects?

As Entrepreneurs and Business Owners it's easy for us to get distracted and become overwhelmed with all our responsibilities and otherwise great ideas. Be sure when developing your mobile marketing strategy that it aligns with your core message and resonates with your viewing audience.

2. Integrate Social Sharing Features

We all know and understand the power of social engagement and social sharing. All of your social sites can be integrated into your Mobile App which will insure and increase your brand awareness.

3. Keep Your App and its Content up to Date

Just as important as updating a blog, your app must be updated with relevant and engaging content. You need to keep the end user engaged, or just as quickly as they downloaded your app, they can remove it.

4. Integrate Interactive and Events Features

Provide up-to-date information about all of your business events and specials by creating an events calendar. Whether you conduct live events or virtual events online, you will want to keep your new users engaged and in-the-know of what you're doing, where you're doing it, and how they can participate. We are social creatures by nature, and want this information available at our fingertips…literally!

5. Create Loyalty / VIP Programs

You want to incentivize your subscribers and give them a reason not only to download your app, but to also keep it on their mobile device. It's very simple to create Loyalty or VIP programs, and your clients and prospects will LOVE you for it.

6. Develop an effective Mobile Marketing Strategy

It's not if you build it they will come... you need to prepare your marketing plan prior to the launch of your new app in the App Stores. Here’s some tips:

  • Be sure to send an email notification to your subscribers with URL links to the Apple and Android (Google Play) Marketplaces so they can download it. Don't forget to incentivize them in some way for doing so.
  • Create QR Codes that link directly to your App (QR Codes are 2-dimensional black and white squares that contains a url or specially coded message that your phone's camera along with QR Scanner Software will decode for you.)
  • Social Network promotions...this can be a great tool!
  • Keyword research for your App is just as important as for your website. As you build your App or have a developer do it for you, determine what your keywords will be as well as the description for your App.

These are both extremely important as they are two of the more permanent features of your App and will immediately assist you in generating new clients and leads when done correctly. Whether you are developing your own apps or not you need to have mobile app development training for your team.

7. Create Raving Fans

It's very important to create an opportunity for your app users to feel as though they are part of your community. Remember the Social Sharing feature? Well this is just as important. What if at your next event you gave your app users the ability to upload their photos from the event, or even write on your app fan wall? We have seen it time and time again on Social Networks how important this is, in fact it's a must!

8. Track your progress with In-App Analytics

You want to be sure you have a way to track the downloads of your App in the App Stores/Markets. Tracking the number of downloads is important as you prepare for future promotions as well as revenue streams from advertising opportunities. The more downloads you have, the more valuable you are to advertising partners. This is a great way to help monetize your app.

9. YES... The Power IS in the PUSH!!!!

Here's the most important feature of all... PUSH Notifications! This is very similar to sending out an email notification but is much more effective. Remember you will have a 97% open rate within the first few minutes of sending it. You can send out notices immediately or schedule them to go out on a particular day and time you set.

The push notification will show up on a mobile device just like a text message would. These are delivered to everyone who has downloaded your app on their mobile device. They are displayed on smartphones and iPads/Tablets. The message will be displayed on the home screen of the phone or tablet literally the moment you press "Send".

One word of caution though... Do NOT over use the Push Notification feature. This can be interpreted at SPAM, so please don't abuse it. Treat your new App Subscribers just like you would your email list and provide value first then create the hunger and desire for your products and services and the sales will naturally follow.

10. Promote, Promote, Promote!

Once your App is completed and published in the App Stores, you will need to get busy promoting your new marketing tool! Your app will not download itself to other mobile devices, so you will need to be proactive in the marketing and promotion of your new App. Now is the time to get in front of potential clients and customers.

Enrol the help of a mobile marketing company or marketing partners to promote your new App; and yes, even utilize your friends and family. Most importantly don't forget about your existing client base - they are already your RAVING FANS!

In order for your App to be successful and provide you a great new way to market to your audience, you must be willing to follow the steps listed above.

your sleeping position

Is your Sleeping Position Responsible for your lower back pain or pain in neck?

It is rather unfortunate that a lot of people complain about waking up with back pains and muscle aches.

One of my reader Paul Boxcer, forwarded this article where he explained  possible causes of back pain, sciatica & neck pain due to improper sleep position
In this article., we'll investigate possible causes of lower back pain, sciatica & neck pain due to improper sleep position.

When you are suffering from either low back pain or sciatica, the last thing you want to be doing is laying awake for hours with only the pain for company. Unfortunately that's how it is for many people, especially in the early days when there is still a high degree of inflammation present which is contributing to the pain.

There are typically two postures or activities which will tend to aggravate your pain, those being Extension based activities (e.g. leaning backwards) and Flexion based activities (e.g. leaning forwards).

If, when you go to bed, you tend to lie on your stomach and it is extension based activities which aggravate your pain, it is likely your pain is going to be aggravated further during the night. This is because lying on your stomach encourages extension of the lower back.

your sleeping position for back pain
Your sleeping position
Under these circumstances, I would suggest you try lying on your back of a night (If you do try this, I would also encourage you to place a pillow or two under your knees, because if you keep your legs straight this could also aggravate your pain) or alternatively, place a pillow or knee pad under your stomach if you feel you can only lay on your front.

Alternatively, if it is flexion based activities which aggravate your pain and you are lying on you back of a night, this could also lead to a poor nights sleep. This is due to lying on your back encouraging flexion (this is not strictly true, as there are exceptions to the rule.

However, for now, we shall take it as true). Under these circumstances, I would suggest you try lying on your front of a night (this time, you may wish to place a small pillow underneath your stomach). Either of these should help you get a better night's sleep.

The best nighttime remedy for back pain is to give your back muscles rest and a chance to recuperate while you sleep. We recommend that you sleep with your head and feet slightly elevated supporting the natural curves of your spin on an adjustable bed. In this position your spine can align putting it in a natural position temporarily taking the strain off your lower back muscles.

Video on how to correct your sleeping position to get rid of lower back pain

The best nighttime remedy for back pain is to give your back muscles rest and a chance to recuperate while you sleep. We recommend that you sleep with your head and feet slightly elevated supporting the natural curves of your spin on an adjustable bed. In this position your spine can align putting it in a natural position temporarily taking the strain off your lower back muscles.

HOWEVER, if your pain is still quite sensitive, neither of these positions may be very comfortable. When this is the case, I would encourage you to try lying on your side (whichever side you find the easiest) BUT ensure that your top leg is bent slightly at the hip and knee and also supported by a pillow or two. By doing this, it enables your top leg to remain parallel with the bed therefore preventing your leg from dropping down.
It is this 'dropping down' action of the top leg which tends to have a twisting/stretching effect on your lower back and sciatic nerve and will undoubtedly aggravate your pain.

As I mentioned earlier, the sleeping position is just one potential factor which can aggravate your pain at night, but it is a very important one and if you can get this right, a good night's sleep will not be too far away!

What's the best sleeping position to avoid neck pain during sleep?

Any position that allows you to provide good support for your neck and back are recommended. Sleep neck pain can be avoided if we take the fetal position, which is probably a reason why this is the most popular sleeping position of all. But however we sleep, what's important is that when we wake up, we don't have any kind of pain or soreness caused by an awkward sleeping position.

The wrong mattress can cause back and neck pain as well as muscle aches. This may be due to the fact that when an individual sleeps on the wrong mattress, he or she will suffer from disturbed sleep. According to studies, disrupted sleep can worsen chronic back problems, forming a vicious cycle: back pain disrupts sleep and poor sleep will then worsen the pain.

How to select the mattress?

A mattress should be able to support, gives comfort and should be firm. My personal preference is Sleep Innovations 12-Inch SureTemp Memory Foam Mattress which comes with 20-Year Warranty.

Support of a mattress depends on the coil type, coil count and connections between the coils. The coils should be made of steel and the thicker the coil, the more support the mattress will provide.T he coil count ranges from 300 to 800 per mattress and generally more coils offer better support. The coils must be interconnected by wires to prevent misalignment.

You can also try some other sleeping pillow like better sleeping pillow to get rid of pain in neck.

This pillow can mould itself to your head, neck and shoulders, giving you a perfect spinal alignment and a good posture all night long, no matter if you sleep in a back position, side position or front position while sleeping. Most side sleepers for example, like to tuck an arm under their head, the better sleep pillow has an arm tunnel under it which works like a bridge allowing their arm to rest comfortably while the top supports the weight of the head, neck and shoulder providing great comfort.

You may also try Leachco Snoogle Total Body Pillow.

how to brand yourself

8 Tips On How To Brand Yourself For Creating An Executive Image

Get the BEST advice to increase your confidence, develop a greater sense of balance, clarity & purpose at work and at home.

4 weeks course on Success Secrets for career Women

By Dr. Mala

"This is exactly what I've been looking for!"- Dipti

Want to get noticed, be respected and have employers beating down your door to hire you?

If this is not happening for you already, then you might need to take a look at your personal branding, and see if you have created the top-notch executive image that will not only get you hired, but help you get the best jobs with the best pay.

Think it will be difficult?

It doesn’t have to be. We will walk you step by step from your business attire to your personal branding strategy in just 8 easy steps.

Personal Branding Defined

Heidi Alexandra Pollard, a personal branding expert, tells us that our brand is nothing more than the thoughts, words and reactions of other people. In short, it is built by you and how you present yourself both online and offline, when you are in the office and when you are in the grocery store.

Does this mean you have to wear business professional attire everywhere you go?

Not necessarily, but it does mean that you should think twice before going out in public in workout clothes and a cap without a shower on Saturdays. You have to consciously be the person you want people to think you are, consistently, day after day.

What Does Your Personal Brand Identity Say About You?

When you create your personal brand identity, you want it to say one main thing: I’m a leader.

Whether you know it or not, you are branding yourself right now. Is your brand saying, I’m a leader?

To get a better idea, you need to try to look from the outside in.

Do you think that others would say they see you as a leader?

This is important, because the suit does not necessarily make the man (or woman). It is what others think about you and see you as that is the key to branding yourself correctly.

Professional image consultant, Marion Gellaty says, “Image isn’t everything, it’s just what everyone notices.” So though you may not be self-conscious, you do need to pay attention to what you wear, your hair, and your makeup to ensure that your personal branding package is seamless and effective.

Building A Brand Strategy Starting With Your Wardrobe

Does your business attire wardrobe need a quick freshen-up, or are you completely lacking in sufficient business professional attire?

Invest in your wardrobe because you need to have business professional attire. I personally prefer to have business suits from branded companies.

Proper business dress will help you with building your brand strategy from the outside with in style and up-to-date professional business attire. This is true for men & women both.

Creating Your Personal Brand Identity From The Inside Out

Branding yourself takes more than just perfect grooming and an impressive suit (though that is a good start). It is even more than a stand-out résumé or business card (those help too).

Real personal branding has to come from the inside. It is all about how you handle situations and problems and the standard of excellence you strive for in your daily work. If you don’t work well with others or do what is expected of you, that glossy veneer becomes thin quickly, and the brand you have tried to build is shattered.

Try to be honest with yourself and conscious of how you are acting in certain situations throughout the day.

Are you argumentative or a peacemaker, do you take the higher ground or are you a gossip, do you get the work done on time or do you make excuses, do you take on your share of the responsibility and more or do you let others do the lion’s share of the work?

If you cannot see yourself clearly, just ask your colleagues, friends or even boss if you want a really clear picture of how you are currently seen. Then start working to cultivate the good characteristics while weeding out the bad. This is a good way to start building a brand strategy.

Knowing what your brand is currently makes it easy to create a clear brand strategy that you can work toward. It will also help you identify the kinds of jobs you are a good fit for and position your online personal branding correctly so you can be found by those types of employers.

8  Tips On How To Brand Yourself For Creating An Executive Image

1)    Be yourself. When creating an executive image to enhance your personal branding, you need to look inside yourself and come up with something that is comfortable for you and authentic, yet portrays you in the light of being a leader.

To get an idea of what we are talking about, you might search the Internet for executive coaches, executive business coaching, or executive career coach.

Take a look at the online profiles of these people and the profiles of the people they have worked with. These profiles will give you a good idea of what you should look like on the outside, as well as how you should conduct yourself, and the types of business and personal activities and interests you should include in your online personal branding.

2)    Be Awesome. Make sure that other people have plenty of reasons to talk good about you, and give yourself credit for what you have done. If you need more help, I suggest reading Purple Cow by Seth Godin. You may also want to enlist the help of a professional by getting executive presence training or executive leadership training, taking an executive leadership course or enrolling in an executive leadership development program.

3)    Be Memorable. An effective personal brand is one that can be remembered. Make sure that the people you meet, both online and off, remember you. Get yourself out there and connect with others. Build rapport and make meaningful impact on the people around you. Don’t be shy…this is your personal brand at stake!

4)    Be Consistent.  Don’t confuse your audience. When you are creating your executive image, you have to act the part when you are in the public eye, either through your work, your dress, or your behavior. Don’t just show up to work one day in your sweatpants because you aren’t feeling well, and don’t slack on your work because you want to go to a ball game. Every action shapes your executive image, either for better or for worse.

5)    Be Well-Connected. Utilize all of the online branding tools like LinkedIn and Facebook, and ask your friends for connections you don’t yet have—then return the favor. Likewise, do this in your offline life as well. To be most effective, don’t just make it about yourself. Be interested in those you meet and use specific things you learn about them to follow up later.

6)    Be Unique. Create a brand name for yourself that is unique, memorable and says something meaningful about your brand. Secure the name for your website and all of the big social media sites, then use these to share useful content that is relevant to your brand.

7)    Be Your Brand. Your executive image requires that every interaction you have with your audience lives up to your brand identity. Don’t act like you are something you are not, and don’t confuse your audience by switching your image on them.

8)    Be A Leader. Your executive image is very important to your personal branding. Think of some of the executives you know and the image they portray: Oprah Winfrey, Donald Trump and Richard Branson are a few that come to mind. They each have the perfect mix of personal style combined with their professional business attire, expert status, and business etiquette skills. When you see them, they are always on and working their executive image for their personal brand.

Video on personal branding tips

In summary, if you want to be a leader in any field, you must work on your executive image to create a personal brand that shows people who you really are. By standing out, not being afraid to shine, and putting your best foot forward for all to see, in an authentic way, you guarantee yourself the best job, with the best pay.

So get out there and start creating your executive image and taking your personal branding to the next level now!

Brown Fat

Quick Fat loss Tip- Increase Your Brown Fat

The Benefit of Having Brown Fat in Your Body

We all wish we had a little less fat on our bodies. But did you know that there's such a thing as good fat? Here are two kinds of fat that we store in the body – yellow fat and brown fat.

Yellow fat is the unhealthy stuff that you want to say goodbye to. But brown fat is actually a good thing to have on your body. This is a special kind of fat that can actually help make you healthier.

What Is Brown Fat?

brown fat location for infant
Brown fat is a substance that scientists once thought was found only in babies and young children. However, it’s been found in many other species such as bears and other animals that hibernate for the winter.

Brown fat is thought to have the purpose of keeping the body warm. But as you grow older, brown fat tends to diminish and get replaced with yellow fat.

In fact, scientists thought that brown fat actually completely disappeared in humans as they become adults. But recent evidence has shown that humans still continue to have some brown fat even as adults.

Brown fat is actually metabolically active. That means that it burns calories while it does its job. Recent research has shown that adults don’t actually lose all of their brown fat when they mature.
Studies have shown that brown fat is actually related to the skeletal muscle in your body. It’s more related to the muscles than it is to the yellow fat that you have. How much brown fat you have in your body depends on personal factors.

What makes brown fat different from yellow fat is its mitochondria. Mitochondria are parts of cells that give them their power. Brown fat cells have many more mitochondria than yellow fat cells. These mitochondria are what give brown fat its color.

Brown fat also seems to contain more of a blood supply than yellow fat because it needs more oxygen in order to produce energy and heat.

White adipose tissue (WAT) stores excess calories, and brown adipose tissue (BAT) consumes fuel for thermogenesis using tissue-specific uncoupling protein 1

Who Has Brown Fat?

Fat-Fighting Foods
1. Greek Yogurt
2. Quinoa
3. Cinnamon
4. Green Tea
6. Grapefruit
7. Watermelon
8. Pears and Apples
9. Blueberries
10. Coffee
Studies looking at brown fat have identified that some people have more than others. Usually young women and people who are   thin have the greatest amounts of brown fat. People who are obese generally don’t have any.

Women have more brown fat than men do.

Another interesting finding is that blood sugar is related to brown fat amounts.

If you have normal blood sugar, then you’re lucky enough to have more brown fat than those with high blood sugar. That’s important when you look at diet and maintaining a steady blood sugar level.
But there is evidence that you can actually work to develop more brown fat in your body that will burn calories and help you maintain better health.

A little brown fat goes a long way unlike yellow fat, brown fat tends to be in very small amounts in the body. Most of the initial findings of brown fat show that human adults have just a few ounces of brown fat in their bodies.

The Location of Brown Fat in the Body

In infants, brown fat is located in the upper part of the spine and the shoulder blades. Most brown fat that’s been found in adults has been found in the upper body as well.

The neck is the easiest place for brown fat to be seen and measured through imaging exams. It’s also been found that adults can have it in the upper chest around the collarbones.

Another type of brown fat has also been found mixed in with yellow fat. This fat is harder to see and measure in the body.

Exercise for More Brown Fat The best way to create more brown fat in your body is to exercise. Because brown fat and skeletal muscle are closely linked, it seems that the more muscle mass you build, the more brown fat you’ll develop.

A recent study of men who exercised on a stationary bicycle for 12 weeks showed that some of their yellow fat had turned into brown fat. That’s good news - because brown fat can help increase your metabolism.

That means you’ll burn more calories even when you’re at rest – not just when you’re exercising. If you want to lose weight overall, adding brown fat to your frame can be very beneficial.

Brown Fat and Temperature

Another way that brown fat becomes activated is when you’re in cold temperatures. Brown fat actually produces heat, so when you’re in a cold environment, you may produce more brown fat.

Some experts recommend exercising in colder temperatures to help stimulate brown fat production - for example, exercising without the heat on in the gym or exercising outside to force your body to warm itself.

The idea is that this might trigger the body to produce more brown fat. However, the jury is still out on whether or not this is an effective way to increase your brown fat amounts.

Your Diet and Brown Fat The diet also requires that you eat six times a day so that you can help keep your metabolism from experiencing highs and lows. For high protein days, you need to eat foods such as lean meats, eggs, seafood, poultry, nuts, and low fat dairy.

On higher carb days, your carbs should come from fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. You can also eat beans on both days for protein and carbohydrates. Part of this diet also allows you to have a free day when you eat whatever you like - but try to keep it below 2,000 calories for the day.

The idea is that this diet helps keep your blood sugar stable. It helps you get rid of yellow fat. This makes it easier for you to lose weight and help you develop more brown fat in your body.

Because blood sugar levels and brown fat are linked, the idea is that when you keep your blood sugar low, you can actually raise your brown fat. You can also use the glycemic index as a standard when choosing foods to eat.

There are also some scientists who suggest that eating spicy foods can help improve your production of brown fat. However, there hasn’t been any human research to confirm this idea.

What Brown Fat Means for You At this time, it’s not possible to go to your doctor and get a test to measure your brown fat.

However, you can take the basic principles that cause brown fat production and apply them to your lifestyle. The idea is that you’ll stimulate some brown fat growth and you’ll also create a calorie deficit that helps you lose yellow fat.

But for now, it’s important to live a healthy lifestyle that supports a healthy weight. Following a plan that’s suggested for increasing brown fat will help your overall health. It can:
  • Help you lose yellow fat
  • Reduce your risk of heart disease and stroke
  • Improve your blood sugar and prevent or manage diabetes
  • Help you have fewer aches and pains
  • Reduce your risk of some cancers

In summary, take balanced diet, exercise often, put ice bag on your neck every day for 30 minutes for quick & easy fat loss.
